December is a time to recognize people who help their communities, and to celebrate volunteers, donors, foundations, and businesses that promote charitable giving. Recognizing that a little generosity can make a big difference in our communities, at Calef’s we make an effort to be generous and give back. If you follow along on our Facebook page, you will know that we work hard to support our local community. We constantly sponsor local causes, groups, and businesses.
Calef’s Community Partnership Program
And most notably, for the past several years, we have run a Community Partnership Program. As part of this program, we partner with local nonprofit organizations to help them raise funds and awareness. Each month the chosen organization benefits from the sale of a designated Calef’s product and is allowed to place a donation box at each register. That organization supplies promotional material for the store and is encouraged to have volunteers here to sample their designated product and share their goals and opportunities with the community.

Giving Box Donations
Did you know that Calef’s donates 1LB of our Famous Smoked Ham to the Barrington Community Food Pantry for each Snappy Olde Rat Trap Giving Box sold. The Snappy Olde Rat Trap Giving Box makes a wonderful gift and supports a local cause all at once. All year, we tally up the Snappy Olde Rat Trap Giving Boxes sold. At the end of the year, we add up the donations. In January the deli then makes a 2lb center cut, to add to the donations and gives the ham to the food Pantry. The Barrington Community Food Pantry then freezes the ham and divides and distributes as needed. In past years Calef’s has donated 200-300lbs of ham. Donating to a local food bank is a great way to help others! We are very grateful to customers who choose The Giving Box and make our donation possible. Our Generous Employees
If you have ever been to Calef’s you know some of the best folks around work at Calef’s. Each year the Deli takes all the tips and split them 50% to the staff and 50% to a local charity. In years past, some of the staff have bought toys and donated them to those in need. This year, our generous deli crew will be donating the money to a charity. So next time you stop by the deli and feel inclined to tip, know you are doing more than recognizing these great employees. You are helping fund a toy drive or charity donation.
This December, you can make a difference to the local community by shopping local and supporting the local community or causes close to your heart, as you are able. We always see such generosity in our community and thank you for helping us support so many local nonprofits.
