Does Salt Water Taffy make you think of a seaside vacation town? Well, you don’t have to travel far to find the good stuff, we have it available online and at the store. Though a vacation anytime is nice, so is enjoying candy that takes you on a trip down memory lane. NH Salt Water Taffy is an Atlantic City original from the late 1800’s now made in seaside communities up and down the east coast. It’s a New England summer tradition with as much history as Calef’s itself. At the store you will spot some other nostalgic summer classics, like rock candy sticks and old fashioned candy sticks in a variety of popular flavors.
And, we have more than the classic summer treats. Sillie Puffs Gourmet Cotton Candy is a wildly popular store item especially in the summer. The bright and cheerful colors and unique flavors scream summer fun. Summer favorites include Lemon, Cherry, Cola, Root Beer, Creamsicle, and Grape. An equally hot item this summer is Freeze Dried Candy. A new way to experience some of your favorite traditional candy, freeze dried candy packs the same flavor but is a totally different light and fluffy texture. It’s great for car rides, day trips, or a little mid-day treat.
To Help You Kick Back and Relax
Summer is short, drink the good stuff! At the store, we have some fun new drink mixers. Mixers are easy grab and go cocktail solutions. Great for entertaining, switching up a relaxed evening at home, or grabbing for an upcoming vacation.
Vena’s Spirit Sippers, from Maine, are all-in-one jars filled with everything you need to craft all-natural cocktails at home. All ingredients are expertly paired to create flavorful drinks that never include chemicals, preservatives, or high-fructose corn syrup. Each 16 oz jar makes 4-5 drinks and can be paired with your choice of spirit, though the folks at Vena’s Fizz House suggest a choice liquor on each jar. Infusion methods are simple too! Infusion with spirits can be done by letting the alcohol steep for 2-3 days or for quicker results heat alcohol on the stove then add to the jar and let it cool. For a mocktail, add boiling water to the mixer jar. Drinks will be ready in about 30 minutes, full directions on each jar. We love that these mixers have an artisan feel with minimal effort.
Beast Feast Maine, Hair of the Beast, Bloody Mary Mix is another top summer drink. Made in Bridgton, Maine, this mix is great for brunches and is known as the original spicy hangover remedy. Mix it with your favorite liquor or right from the bottle for a non-alcoholic alternative.
